Kenya’s National Beach Handball Team has been urged to uphold clean sport values as it prepares to make history at the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, scheduled from October 31 to November 14, 2026.
Through its Department of Education and Research, the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) conducted a Clean Sport Workshop for the team in Mombasa, equipping the young athletes with essential knowledge on anti-doping rules, their rights and responsibilities.
The session also emphasised the importance of making informed decisions and protecting the integrity of sport as the players prepare to represent Kenya on the international stage.
Kenya will compete in the girls’ handball competition in Dakar, marking a significant milestone for the handball fraternity in the country.
“It is the first time for Kenya Handball to be at the Olympics,” observed Kenya Handball Federation Secretary General Charles Omondi on Saturday morning.
The workshop is part of efforts to ensure Kenyan athletes heading to major international competitions understand their obligations under anti-doping regulations and are prepared to compete fairly.
For the young handball players, the training provided an important reminder that their Olympic journey extends beyond performance, with clean competition, personal responsibility and respect for the rules forming an integral part of representing Kenya.
Their participation in Dakar will give Kenya Handball an opportunity to showcase its emerging talent on the Olympic stage while promoting the values of integrity and fair play.
