Blow to Forestry PS, Governor Mutuma M'Ethingia as court stops State Lodge and Airstrip construction.

The court on Thursday stopped the construction of State Lodge and airstrip in Meru, citing environmental degradation concerns.

The court noted that it perused all the affidavits from both the petitioners and respondents on the matter.

Land and Environment court in Meru therefore temporarily halted the excision of the Upper Imenti Forest for the construction of State Lodge, Airstrip, and a Golf Course.

The court put in great consideration that the forest is an heritage, anticipated destruction of Fauna and Flora, human/wildlife conflict, and that there was no qualitative and quantitative public participation.

“There was no due consideration of ripple effects as well as it threatens the ecosystem and environment,” the court ruled.
