Kenya’s Amos Kipruto produced an impressive run to win the Chicago Marathon in 2:01:09, while compatriots Sharon Lokedi and Brigid Kosgei came second and third place in a fiercely contested women’s race on Sunday, October 11.
Kipruto, who had finished second in 2024 and 2025, delivered a personal best to claim another major marathon title. He improved his PB by 30 seconds from 2:01:39 he ran at London Marathon in April to 2:01:09.
Ethiopia’s Tadese Bikila settled for second in 2:02:56, followed by compatriot Milkesa Mengesha in 2:03:46. Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo was fourth in 2:04:18.
Kenya’s Daniel Mateiko finished sixth in 2:05:01, matching Ethiopia’s Boki Diriba’s time, but placing behind him. The result gave Kenya two runners in the men’s top six.
In the women’s race, Ethiopia’s Hawi Feysa retained her title in 2:13:33 after outpacing Lokedi during the closing stages. Lokedi clocked 2:14:07, while former world-record holder Kosgei was third in 2:14:55.
