In Heat 1A, Imbayi failed to finish after a technical glitch on his arrive-and-drive kart provided by Worr Motorsports.

Team Kenya endured a mixed bag of fortunes on Saturday, but finished on a high at the ongoing Pan African Karting Championship in Benguela, Angola, with Myles Imbayi posting the fastest lap of the day.

After shakedown on Friday, qualifying on Saturday saw Imbayi qualify an impressive third in Senior Max, while teammates Jesse Murithi qualified 19th and Sean Njumbi 20th in their respective categories.

The opening heats proved tough. In Heat 1A, Imbayi failed to finish after a technical glitch on his arrive-and-drive kart provided by Worr Motorsports.

Kenya regrouped in Heat 1B, with Njumbi finishing a strong fourth and Murithi close behind in sixth.

The highlight of the day came in Heat 2B. Starting from sixth on the grid, Imbayi carved through the field to finish second, setting the best lap time of the entire day in the process.

It was disappointment for his teammates in the same heat, however. Murithi finished seventh after a hard-fought race, while Njumbi retired after hitting a barrier and bending a tie rod.

With Heat 3, the Pre-Finals and Finals all lined up for tomorrow, Sunday, Team Kenya remains firmly in contention for a podium finish in Benguela.
