Kenya Shujaa, Kenya Morans and Kenya Lionesses will headline a star-studded 2026 Safari Sevens as the three-day seven-a-side rugby tournament returns to Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi from October 9-11.
Reigning champions Shujaa will be chasing a remarkable fifth consecutive Safari Sevens title when they lead Pool A, which also features Uganda, SportPesa Fast Forward 7s and Scotland. Their pursuit of a five-peat adds another layer of intrigue to a tournament that continues to provide a platform for established international sides, ambitious clubs and emerging sevens talent.
Shogun will also be among the teams to watch after reaching the final in each of the last three editions. Drawn in Pool B, they will tackle French Renegades, Southern California Nomads and Wellington Jaguars as they seek to turn their consistent run into another title challenge.
Kenya Morans enter the competition with momentum after winning gold in the Mauritius leg of the Africa Men’s Series on October 3-4. They headline Pool C alongside Africa Men's Sevens Uganda leg winners Zimbabwe, together with GEL Squad and Wonder 7s.
Zimbabwe add further international quality to the pool after securing qualification through the World SVNS 3 qualification pathway.
In the women’s competition, the Lionesses will seek back-to-back Safari Sevens titles in a round-robin format. They will collide with Uganda Lady Cranes, Kenya Cubs, Tunisia, South Africa TUKS and Junior Lionesses.
During the launch in Nairobi on Monday, Kenya Rugby Union disclosed 13,000 tickets have already been sold for the tournament, underlining the anticipation surrounding the return of Safari Sevens to Nyayo Stadium.
With three days of action featuring international opposition, established clubs and rising talent, the 2026 Safari Sevens promises a packed weekend of rugby as teams battle for one of Kenya’s most prestigious domestic sevens titles.
