Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL), through its Tusker brand, has committed KES 14 million to the 2026 Safari Sevens, strengthening its partnership with Kenyan rugby ahead of the tournament scheduled for October 9-11 at Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi.
Tusker will serve as the Official Alcohol Beverage and Entertainment Partner of the 28th edition of the competition. The sponsorship will support the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) in organising the three-day tournament while enhancing entertainment and fan experiences.
Tusker Sports Brand Manager Keza Mpyisi noted that the investment reflected the brand’s continued commitment to rugby development in Kenya. KRU Chairlady Harriet Okach welcomed the partnership, adding that strong corporate support was important in delivering a tournament of Safari Sevens’ scale.
KRU chief executive Thomas Odundo disclosed that preparations were well advanced, with the Union working on teams, venues, match operations, officials and other logistical requirements.
Kenya Shujaa captain Samuel Asati said the hosts were preparing for a highly competitive tournament. Kenya Lionesses captain Sheila Chajira noted that the women’s side was looking forward to competing at home and building momentum.
Shujaa and the Lionesses enter the tournament as defending champions after winning the men’s and women’s Main Cup titles in 2024 and 2025. Shujaa claimed its 14th Safari Sevens title last year.
Twelve men’s teams have confirmed participation: Kenya Shujaa, Kenya Morans, Safari Select, Wellington Jaguars, Shogun, Uganda Sevens, Zimbabwe Sevens, Scotland Sevens, Xeve Sevens, Wonder 75, Southern California Nomads and French Renegades.
Seven women’s teams are confirmed: Kenya Lionesses, Kenya Cubs, Shibli, Costa Blanca Barbarians Svens, Uganda Sevens, Tunisia Sevens and SportPesa Fast Forwards.
The sponsorship follows Tusker’s support for the 2026 HSBC SVNS 2 tournament and all legs of the National Sevens Circuit.
