Kangundo MP Fabian Kyule has asked 48 boda boda saccos operating in Kangundo to venture into Public Service Vehicle (PSV) transport and take advantage of the newly-tarmacked Kangundo-Mwala road.
Speaking on Wednesday at Kilalani Primary school after opening a class onstructed through the National Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), the MP said the Saccos with over 2,000 motorbikes risked running out of business due to excess competition.
He advised members to consider diversifying into Matatu business which could serve a wider region and reduce competition.
"The over 2,000 motorbikes are worth more than KES 360 million. If we reduced the motorbikes and bought buses worth KES 10 million, that's 20 buses which can move across the country," said Mr Kyule.
He challenged the boda boda operators to think beyond their current operations to make more money.
Mr Kyule said the tarmarcked road will also open avenue for traders in Agricultural produce who can sell the produce along the road and also transport to other areas.
The legislator challenged residents to come up with ideas of making money regardless of their educational standards adding that the most successful people in the world are not necessarily professors but average people who think differently.
Mr Kyule, who is also the party leader of the Grand Dreams Development Party (GDDP) which is allied to President William Ruto's UDA, said he will not fold up his party as it embodied the aspirations of the local people.
He said he had ambitions of vying for the Presidency in future through the GDDP party.
"I will not join anybody's party. A party leader cannot fold up his party to become a member of another party. We too want power and development," said Mr Kyule.
