Kangundo gains upgraded maternal and child health services at Kivaani facility

The new Kivaani Maternal and Child Health block will serve over 9,000 residents from Kangundo and parts of Mwala.

The County Government of Machakos has transformative investment that will improve access to quality maternal health in a move aimed at expanding and improving healthcare services to residents in Kangundo Sub-county.

Speaking on Friday, Day Three of her development tour after Commissioning the Kivaani Health Centre Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Ultrasound Block in Kangundo East Ward, Governor Wavinya Ndeti
said the facility will be a boost to over 9,000 residents in the area.

"The new facility will enhance safe deliveries, provide essential ultrasound services closer to the community, improve health outcomes for mothers and children, and offer a better working environment for healthcare workers," the county boss said.

The governor also said her administration remains committed to strengthening healthcare across Machakos by investing in modern health infrastructure, equipping facilities, ensuring a steady supply of essential medicines, and supporting healthcare workforce to deliver quality, affordable and accessible services to every resident.

Wavinya said her aim was also working towards developing an adequate pool of human resource capacity required to sustain the county’s growing demand for a specialised healthcare force.

“We intend to build a reliable and efficient human resource capacity that will ensure the desired services are offered in all our health institutions,” she added.

The Kivaani facility receives patients from Kangundo and part of Mwala sub-counties.
