Tennis Kenya President Wanjiru Mbugua-Karani said bringing this Conference to Nairobi allows many more Kenyan and African coaches to access high-level education, exchange ideas, build relationships and connect with the wider tennis community.

More than 100 tennis coaches from 20 countries are converging in Nairobi for the Africa Regional Coaches Conference, which gets underway Monday at Parklands Sports Club.

Hosted by Tennis Kenya from September 28-30, 2026, the three-day Conference is being held in East and Central Africa for the first time, bringing together coaches and experts from across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the United States.

The Conference will combine technical presentations with practical on-court sessions, with a strong focus on improving coaching standards and creating stronger networks across Africa.

International speakers include Kris Soutar of Great Britain, Ilona Schönmann of Switzerland, Edita Liachoviciute of Lithuania and Mathieu Wagner of France.

Kenya will be represented by speakers Rosemary Owino, Francis Rogoi and George Oyoo, while World Tennis will be represented by Riaan Kruger, World Tennis Education Manager, and Thierry Ntwali, World Tennis Development Officer for East and Central Africa.

Tennis Kenya president Wanjiru Mbugua-Karani said bringing the Conference to Nairobi reflects the Federation’s commitment to expanding access to opportunities for coaches in Kenya and across the continent.

"Tennis Kenya is in the business of creating opportunities. Bringing this Conference to Nairobi allows many more Kenyan and African coaches to access high-level education, exchange ideas, build relationships and connect with the wider tennis community. When we invest in coaches, that knowledge ultimately reaches our players and strengthens the game,” she shared.

The Conference has been made possible through the support of World Tennis, Olympic Solidarity through the National Olympic Committee of Kenya, Kenya Academy of Sports, Nairobi Sports House, Kingfisher and Parklands Sports Club.

The Conference opened at 8am on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Parklands Sports Club and runs through Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
