Kenya finished the day with two wins and one loss, securing second place in Pool B.

Kenya Shujaa cruised into the semi-finals of the 2026 Africa Men Sevens in Mauritius after an impressive opening day that saw them register two wins from three Pool B matches on October 3, 2026.

Shujaa launched their campaign on a high against Namibia, with Brian Mutua drawing first blood for Kenya. Although the conversion went wide, Kenya quickly found their rhythm, with Gabriel Ayimba adding a second try before Dennis Ndayala crossed the whitewash to put Shujaa 15-12 ahead at the break.

The second half belonged to Shujaa, who turned up the pressure and ran in a further 19 points. Victor Mola opened the scoring after the restart before Ayimba completed his brace. Shujaa added another try as they pulled away from Namibia to secure a convincing 34-12 victory.

Kenya carried that momentum into their second Pool B fixture against Reunion. In a tightly contested opening half, Lucky Otieno opened the scoring for Shujaa, with Rayvone Ambale adding the conversion. Ambale then crossed for Kenya's second try as Shujaa went into the break with a 12-0 lead.

The second half saw Kenya extend their advantage, with Arnold Agonda making an immediate impact after coming off the bench to score. Shujaa held firm to secure their second victory of the day.

The final pool encounter proved a different affair as Shujaa faced Madagascar. Despite Kenya's strong start to the tournament, Madagascar produced a disciplined performance to whitewash Shujaa 26-0. The result meant Kenya finished the day with two wins and one loss, securing second place in Pool B.

With the group phase now complete, Shujaa's attention turns to a familiar opponent and one of the biggest fixtures on the African sevens calendar.

Shujaa will meet South Africa in the semi-finals on October 4 in a high-stakes encounter that promises another chapter in the rivalry between the two African sevens powerhouses.
The semi-final is scheduled for 9:44 a.m EAT. Madagascar and Burkina Faso will meet in the other semi-final.
