MPs from the Ukambani region have defended retired President Uhuru Kenyatta against what they termed as attacks by President William Ruto in a bid to divert Kenyans from real issues ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The MPs - Susan Kiamba (Makueni Woman Rep), Joyce Kamene Kasimbi (Machakos) and Charles Nguna (Mwingi West) - who were hosted by Matungulu MP Stephen Mule during a fundraising at St Bernard Catholic Church in Nguluni, Matungulu on Sunday, said Kenyans are focused on voting out President Ruto in the next election and no amount of diversionary tactics will change their resolve.
"Instead of telling Kenyans why you have destroyed the economy, why Museveni is complaining about your bad oil deal, why you ordered police to shoot our children in the leg, you are now abusing Uhuru Kenyatta so that you can divert attention for Kenyans to forget why they should vote you out," said Mule who is also doctor.
He said leaders want to know who was behind the Uganda oil scandal that President Yoweri Museveni has publicly complained about.
Mr Mule added that they will demand disclosure on how various ethnic groups were represented in the recent police recruitment and in the teaching profession.
"We want to know how many Kambas, Kalenjins, Kisiis were recruited because it is a constitutional right to have equitable distribution of jobs in Kenya," said Mule.
He claimed that National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula is on record disclosing that some MPs were issued with TSC employment letters at State House to take to their constituents.
Makueni Woman Representative Susan Kiamba claimed that of the recent recruits from Kiganjo Police Training College, 2,862 were Kalenjins, 142 were Kikuyu and 97 were Kamba.
She said the representation was skewed and there was need to get the right person for the Presidency in order to end discrimination in the civil service.
Machakos Woman Representative Joyce Kamene Kasimbi urged residents of Machakos, Makueni and Kitui to be united behind Wiper Patriotic Front presidential hopeful Kalonzo Musyoka.
"If we give them another five years, the civil service will be populated with one tribe which is a recipe for chaos," said Kasimbi.
