KCB soccer team (KCB FC) have stepped up their preparations for the 2026/2027 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League season with a major reinforcement of both their technical bench and playing squad, unveiling seven new signings and two experienced coaches ahead of the August 22 kick-off.
The bankers have appointed experienced tacticians Peter Okidi Okoth as assistant coach and Bonface Oluoch Otieno as goalkeeping coach.
Okoth joins from Mombasa United, while Oluoch arrives from Gor Mahia as the club seeks to strengthen its technical department and improve on last season’s campaign.
In their recruitment drive, KCB have also bolstered their squad with seven new players aimed at addressing key areas and increasing competition for places.
The new players are right-back Mark Oduor from Shabana FC, left-back Jim Owili from Mara Sugar, defensive midfielder Fidel Origa from Gor Mahia, attacking midfielder Brian Ouru from Mathare United, Burundian winger Franck Nduwimana from Gorilla FC, striker Assis Mambote from Shabana and central midfielder Geoffrey Ojunga from Bandari FC.
The changes form part of a wider squad restructuring that has seen 10 players depart the club following a difficult 2025/2026 campaign, in which KCB came seventh in the FKF Premier League and fourth in the FKF Cup.
“We have been deliberate in identifying players who fit the way we want to play and who possess the quality, discipline and mentality required at KCB,” explained head coach Robert Matano.
“The reinforcement of our technical bench will ensure that we are better prepared for the demands of the new season.”
The club has further strengthened its performance department with the appointment of Tobby Owino as video analyst. Owino joined KCB last season and will now take up the expanded role, while Samuel Macharia, who returned to the club in the second half of the 2025/2026 season, will continue as strength and conditioning coach.
KCB FC patron Azu Ogola said the changes underline the club’s determination to mount a stronger challenge for honours.
“KCB Football Club has consistently demonstrated its ambition to compete at the highest level, and these changes reflect our commitment to building a team capable of challenging for trophies,” noted Ogola.
“We have assembled a strong technical team and recruited quality players who share our vision. As we head into the new season, our expectations are clear; we want to be competitive in every match and make our supporters proud through consistent performances.”
