A Machakos gubernatorial candidate Nzioka Waita has promised to transform the county’s economy, empower its citizens, and eradicate poverty if elected in the 2027 polls.
Waita made the promise on Wednesday at the Mlolongo Chief’s Office Grounds, Mlolongo Ward, during the commissioning of streetlights and a public engagement.
He said his administration would create jobs, ensure the welfare of the people, and focus on the most important issues affecting the county.
“I pledge to work tirelessly for the good of all people of Machakos County, irrespective of gender, social status, ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation, because the success of the county does not depend on the government alone, but on every one of us,” the aspirant said.
Speaking further, Waita contended that the county needed a leader of integrity, values, and decorum as governor, promising that under his watch, Machakos would experience clear developmental and infrastructural gains.
“My policies shall be centered on empowering the people of Machakos financially. My vision is to make this a model county in Kenya by improving the roads, drainage, sewerage systems, overstretched schools, health facilities, and sporting infrastructure that affect everyday life. Mama Mboga, Jua Kali traders, boda boda operators, and other small-business owners also need safe, clean, and organised environment to earn a living. Furthermore, we will address abandoned quarries and dumpsites, while supporting residents who are waiting for their title deeds,” he added.
He also noted that under his administration, Mavoko will receive the attention it deserves through proper urban planning and strategic investments in infrastructure and essential services.
He emphasized that the people living and working at the heart of the industrial economy should directly feel the benefits of that growth in their everyday lives.
