Mwala Member of Parliament and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Organizing Secretary Eng Vincent Musyoka Kawaya has claimed the opposition is on the verge of collapse, attributing the split to internal disagreements.
Speaking during a Mama Mboga Empowerment forum in Tala, Matungulu Constituency on Wednesday, Musyoka said the opposition's agenda lacks substance.
“The opposition has started disintegrating. The entire team is not agreeing. God is working. The entire story was hot air, it was about Linda Uhuru Kenyatta,” Musyoka claimed.
He extended an invitation to Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and other opposition legislators to join the ruling UDA.
"I want to invite Babu Owino and the rest of the team. I want to welcome you to UDA. As the National Organizing Secretary I am going to receive you. Do not be deceived. There's a President who is working for all Kenyans," he said.
Musyoka also took a swipe at former President Uhuru Kenyatta for engaging in opposition politics.
"I ask Uhuru to retire from politics with honour. It is so shameful that you have been a President and you are now involved in petty politics. What is it that you want to do in opposition that you didn't do as President?" he posed.
At the same event, former State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita, who has declared interest in the Machakos gubernatorial seat in 2027, pledged to fix the county's health care and education sectors.
Waita said ambulances procured during Governor Alfred Mutua's tenure had been grounded and hospitals lack drugs.
"There are no essential drugs in hospitals. I was told that a pregnant mother being admitted to hospital is required to purchase gloves, cotton wool, injection needle and drugs. I will ensure this does not happen if elected," said Waita.
He promised to employ ECDE teachers if elected and ensure hospitals utilise Social Health Authority (SHA) funds established by President William Ruto to provide services.
"Our hospitals must give services using the SHA funds established by President William Ruto. We will ensure that drugs are not stolen from hospitals," he said.
Waita decried unemployment among youth, saying many are unable to marry due to lack of jobs and income, and assured them of job creation.
He urged Machakos residents not to be drawn into partisan politics but to elect development-conscious leaders.
