Government officials and security apparatus to tell the court the exact bottleneck of privatising a public school.

Basic Education Principal Secretary John Ololtuaa, Inspector General (IG) of Police Douglas Kanja and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Eliud Lagat are expected in court this morning (Friday, July 24, 2026) over failure to register Gatoto Primary School at Mukuru kwa Reuben as a private school.

Gatoto is a public school allegedly taken over by five individuals, including a former beneficiary.

The takeover has sparked protests, with parents stating that education of their children is at risk because private schools charge high fees which they cannot afford as they survive on hand-to-mouth basis.
