TECNO has won two IFA Global Product Technology Innovation Awards for its Modular Phone and Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS gaming mini PC, adding to the brand’s growing push into advanced consumer technology.
The awards were presented at IFA 2026, with the TECNO Modular Phone receiving the Ultra Slim Magnetic Modular Technology Innovation Gold Award, while the Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS (MEGA MINI G1 Pro) won the Miniaturized Gaming PC Technology Innovation Gold Award.
For Kenyan consumers, the recognition offers a glimpse into the kind of technology TECNO could eventually bring to the local market as the company expands beyond smartphones into modular devices, gaming computers and AI-focused products.
The TECNO Modular Phone measures 4.9mm thick, making it the company’s thinnest modular smartphone. It uses a magnetic connection system and pogo pin connectors to allow users to attach different modules to the device depending on their needs.
TECNO says the phone supports an ecosystem of 10 modules, while its main body retains a 3,000mAh to 4,000mAh battery. The device also has a portless unibody design aimed at providing dust and water resistance.
The company says the Modular Phone is expected to enter mass production, although it has not indicated when the device will be available to Kenyan consumers or how much it will cost.
The technology is also being positioned as a platform for personal artificial intelligence assistants, as manufacturers seek to accommodate increasing AI capabilities without making smartphones significantly larger.
The Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS, meanwhile, is a compact gaming PC measuring about 6.36 litres and featuring a water-cooling system designed to maintain performance during demanding workloads.
The mini PC is powered by an Intel Core i9-13900HK processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 graphics processor, with connectivity options including OCuLink, USB4 and Wi-Fi 6E.
Its design combines a vertical chassis with a transparent window and styling associated with the Tonino Lamborghini brand, bringing luxury-oriented design into the gaming computer market.
TECNO also showcased other futuristic devices at IFA 2026, including a Next-Gen Bezelless Concept Phone with what the company describes as a 0mm screen bezel and the MEGABOOK T15 360 Pro convertible laptop.
The two devices are concept products rather than retail models, meaning Kenyan consumers should not expect to find them in local shops immediately.
However, their development signals the direction TECNO is exploring as it seeks to integrate thinner hardware, modular technology and artificial intelligence into its product ecosystem.
The IFA Global Product Technology Innovation Awards were established in 2014 by IDG, IFA and DIHK to recognise innovation and design in consumer electronics.
TECNO, which operates in more than 70 markets across five continents, currently offers smartphones, laptops, tablets, smart wearables, gaming devices and other technology products.
