Ms Angella Mulwa was separately charged on September 2,2026 at Mavoko law courts , Machakos county over the theft of motor vehicles from the residence of the slain doctor at Mlolongo.
She had been arrested alongside Nelson Masiga Makaralu last month where police investigated her over theft of top of the range vehicles of Dr Mutiso, forgery of title documents and malicious damage to property during the deceased eviction the Sh1.5billion Mlolongo 20- acre property.
Ms Angella was escorted from Langata Women prison where she is being detained alongside her mother Ms Rose Mbithe Mulwa following their charging with murder of Dr Mutiso on August 26,2026.
Milimani senior principal magistrate Teresia Nyagena heard the fugitives will be charged alongside Ms Rose Mbithe (a former co-wife with Dr Mutiso) , Angella , Chris and PC Kimoi after completion of the investigations.
Ms Nyangena heard that Kenyan police arrested Samuel Karanja Gathoni in Nairobi who then led them to the hideout in Uganda where PC Bett and Mr Mbugua from where they brought to book.
Gathoni, police state, had been travelling in and out of Kenya to Uganda after the killing of Dr Mutiso.
“That on August 29,2026 the trio were arrested after being forensically identified in an intelligence led operation at Kyanja Height Flats, Nakwa surburb Kampala City within the Republic of Uganda,” lead investigator Corporal Romana Oduor disclosed to the Milimani law court, Nairobi.
CPL Oduor reveals that upon reviewing CCTV footage Samuel Karanja Gathoni “was a driver of a motor vehicle KDE 400W, a black Toyota Prado which was trailing the deceased before the Uber she had boarded registration number KDJ 609D was blocked by another Toyota Prado KDH 600A before she was fatally shot.”
CPL Oduor says in an affidavit filed in court that the three had been surveilling the deceased movements prior to and even on the fateful day.
CPL Oduor pleaded with the magistrate to detain the three in police custody for thorough interrogation.
Police have since established that Sh300,000 was paid the executioners of Dr Mutiso.
After their conviction and release by the Ugandan Court, the trio were driven by road from Kampala.
They were handed over to the Kenyan Police for processing over the heinous murder of Dr Mutiso, formerly a Director of Africa Institute of Medical and Brain Health on July 29, 2026.
The director of public prosecutions (DPP) through a prosecuting counsel Mr Murage vehemently opposed an application by the three to be freed on bond saying they are a flight risk.
The prosecution said the killing of Dr Mutiso is a matter of great public interest and significant public outrage due to the circumstances under which it was committed and the profile of the deceased.
“Their exists genuine apprehension that if released before investigations are concluded the respondents (pc bett, mbugua and gathoni) may be exposed to retaliation. Mob injustice or other threats to their personal safety,” police state in court filings.
Responding further to defense submissions that Gathoni is a final year law student who was arrested from Nairobi and had never set foot in Uganda, Mr Murage urged the court to reject those averments as he (gathoni), PC Bett and Mbugua were charged before a Uganda Court on August 31, 2026.
“I urge this court to reject these pedestrian arguments which are not backed by evidence and facts, Gathoni has been travelling in and out of Kenya to Uganda after the gunning down of Dr Mutiso. It is him who led police to arrest his accomplices in their hideout in Kampala,” Mr Murage submitted.
He Gathoni has not presented any University admission to prove his allegations that he is a law student.
A defense lawyer said Gathoni hails from Molo and a resident of Nairobi where police can find him.
The suspect said he was willing to report to the police anytime required in the company of his lawyers to record a statement.
In a rulings Ms Nyagena said that the prosecution has established that the suspects are flight risk as they allegedly fled Kenya after the alleged murder of Dr Mutiso.
“This court finds that there are compelling reasons to warrant the detention of the three for 30 days in police custody,” ruled Ms Nyagena.
She ordered the three be remanded at Kasarani, Kileleshwa na Kilimani police stations respectively.
